Congratulations to Bill Stalf, the Rockets new Head of Delegation (HOD)!  Bill takes over for Bill Bettesworth who stepped down at the end of 2021.  Bill Stalf has been a member of the Rockets for many years, serving as a volunteer, partner, coach, sports official and Coordinator.  Thank you, Bill, for stepping up and assuming the role of the Rockets' new leader!
Congratulations to our three Rockets' athletes (pictured right) selected to attend the 2022 Special Olympics National Games! Alex Correa (left) will be participating in Track & Field, while Erin Stalf (center) and Shiv Patel (right) will be participating in Swimming.
For the month of February, Chik-Fil-A New Mexico supported SONM with a state-wide fundraising campaign.  Two of the Rockets' athletes, Emily Hoffman and Phil With were selected to represent two of their locations.  Emily was selected for the Rio Rancho Unser location, and Phil was selected for the Coors/St. Joseph location. Congratulations Emily and Phil!
Once again, our annual recognition party ("Rocket Blast) has been suspended.  If  the situation changes, we will consider having it later in the year or combining it with another activity.
Our Rockets' athlete, Connie Hoffman, along with Las Cruces Incredibles athlete Troy Flores, are co-winners of the New Mexico Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) T-shirt design contest.  Congratulations Connie (shown at right with the winning design).
SONM started 2022 by restoring the in-person activities, including Poly Hockey and bowling practices and tournaments.   There was a slight hitch in the plans when a spike in the state COVID caused all in-person activities to be suspended for a brief time early in the season.  When the statistics showed a significant decrease, the in-person activities resumed, and the teams get to look forward to upcoming State Poly Hockey and Unified Bowling Tournaments.
Rockets Summer Games Signup
The State Summer Games is right around the corner!  The season starts March 1st, and the Rockets are having their registration signup at Haynes park on Friday, March 4th from 5:00pm to 6:00pm.
